This exhibition delves into the practices of 27 Bay Area artists who engage in the art of hunting and gathering; sourcing information, materials, trash, treasures, junk, scraps, ephemera, mementos, souvenirs, trophies, prizes, and trinkets. Like ancient stargazers tracing constellations in the night sky, these artists connect disparate fragments in an attempt to comprehend the cryptic patterns of our world. The process of collecting and transforming fragments into works of art underscores the shared energy economy that has always fueled the Bay Area's vibrant art community. In this communal system, resources, ideas, and efforts are pooled together, creating a dynamic energy source that artists can draw inspiration from and contribute to. Like skilled hunters and gatherers, each artist brings their own scraps to the table, and together, they transform these humble beginnings into a feast.
