Statement: Jovi Vidal (b.1989, they/them) Some of my earliest memories as a child are art-related. I was told from a young age that I would grow up to be an artist and so I was raised that way. I use art-making to connect with something spiritual. Art is also an activity from which I can learn about myself. When I am inspired I try and stay with that initial energy and follow what is presented. I try and keep my thoughts to a minimum because they go faster than I can move or create obstacles to being in and with the present moment of creation. I try to make art that is simple and direct so that I can stay with myself while I make it.
