Bio: Lulu Thrower is a sociologist, artist, mother, student and teacher living and working in Pacifica, Ca. Born and raised in the Northern Bay Area of California, they received their BA in Sociology from Mills College in 2013 and has recently shown work locally at Southern Exposure, Et al., and Anthony Meier.

Statement: Drawing from personal feelings of discomfort surrounding the image of a coat hanger, the piece examines the impact and experience of current and past realities, referencing reproductive justice and access to abortion in a post Roe v. Wade society. Steel coated chains are visual markers of criminalization, incarceration and systems of state violence, while also serving as a reminder of the links within our liberated struggles.
